If your toilet is overflowing right now: lift the tank lid and push the flapper down to stop water flow, then turn the shutoff valve (located at the base of the toilet on the wall) clockwise to cut off the water supply. If the shutoff doesn’t work or you can’t reach it, go to your home’s main water shutoff and turn it off completely.
